Past & Present…

Being guided to bring forth my passion has unfurled in so many special ways. Each week and each step I take toward building this business and helping others become passionate about gardening and growing healing foods for themselves has revealed yet another sign that I am moving in the right direction.

One very special moment was on my Grandma’s 85th Birthday just before she passed away. My Grandpa and I were talking about spring and the excitement of a new growing season when he pulled out some business cards he had stacked away. They read “Elliott’s Farm and Gardens”

My Grandparents business cards & my own

When they were younger, for a time, they had made a small business out of the beloved farm I grew up visiting. In addition to the farming my Grandpa did, of course. Think Farm stand. I love to hear of stories like this. My grandparents have long been an example of a once in a lifetime love and it’s beautiful to hear about different parts of their lives…

My Grandparents when they were young (around 1960)

I have many fond memories of exploring my grandparents farm with my siblings…climbing in the tractors, running around in the fields, hunting for barn kittens…Throughout my life, their farm has been a fixture in our family. My grandpa also kept bees for many, many years. Growing up I have memories of his bee keeping and always having Elliott honey… <3

Each spring there was a lot of planning and planting. Both my Grandparents loved to garden. My Grandmother loved flowers and always loved planning with garden catalogs every spring. I remember many times that I would join them in their vegetable gardens helping them pick… and eat fresh garden vegetables… I’m sure the “help” of a young kid consisted more of munching on the fresh green beans than anything else. Looking back, these memories impacted me in so many ways…which is certainly apparent today as I too, love gardening and planning for the garden season ahead.

I kept some of those old business cards to frame as a reminder of where I came from and just how much their influence means to me. A beautiful visual reminder that I am a part of them and have a way of carrying on that legacy for them. I hope I will always make them proud.

*This post is a dedication for my Grandma, I will always keep the bird feeders by our kitchen window full & carry you in my heart.
