What is a ‘Kitchen Garden’?

There’s something so romantic about a kitchen garden to me. My husband and I really enjoy finding recipes to try. Spending time cooking after our work day as a way to unwind and connect. During dinner prep you realize you don’t have cilantro or a jalapeño? Walk right outside to your kitchen garden and clip some! You can’t get fresher ingredients for recipes than that!

A kitchen garden is typically smaller and more directly accessible from the kitchen than a vegetable garden. For many people, a kitchen garden filled with herbs and vegetables they use on a regular basis is more than enough for them to manage. Choose what you will eat and fill your kitchen garden. You can work in a variety of flowers for pollinators and companion planting as well.

Kitchen gardens are meant to simplify the garden experience and make it a joyful and a beautiful addition to any home. Think baby steps. If a vegetable garden is made for huge abundant harvests a kitchen garden is made with the purpose of enjoyment and taking steps towards a happier healthier you!
